The JoSAA Counselling 2026 procedure involves many steps, including registration, JoSAA counselling choice filling, JoSAA Counselling seat allotment, fee payment, document verification, and reporting to the allotted college.

Step-by-Step Process for JoSAA Counselling Registration 2026

Below, we have shared the step-by-step complete procedure for JoSAA Registration and choice filling.

Step 1: Online JoSAA Registration of New Candidate

1. Visit to the JoSAA Counselling Official Portal at https://josaa.nic.in/.
2. Log in to the JoSAA portal and click on the “New Candidate Registration” tab.
3. Enter your JEE Main 2026 credentials on the JoSAA candidate login.
4. Type in your JEE Main 2026 application number, date of birth, candidate’s name, and mother’s name.
5. Confirm the details by entering the OTP received on your mobile number and email ID.
6. Create a password for the JoSAA login.

Step 2: Log in to the JoSAA Candidate Portal

1. Upon successful JoSAA registration, log in to the candidate portal of JoSAA using your JEE Main 2026 application number and the created password.

2. Validate the OTP received on your mobile number and email ID.
3. Check your personal, educational, and category information carefully.
4. In case of any discrepancies, correct them with the help of the ‘edit’ facility and confirm the details.

Step 3: JoSAA Counseling Choice Filling and Choice Locking

1. Once you complete the registration process, move on to the choice-filling stage.
2. Refrain from making any changes to your details after locking your preferences.
3. Enter your choice for institute type, institute name, and course program from the provided list.
4. Use the “Add” tab to enter your choices.
5. Arrange your entered choices according to your preference.
6. A candidate can make additions to or change their choices until the last date.
7. Lock your choices before June 11, 2026, as it is necessary.

It should be noted that in case a candidate fails to lock his/her choices before the JoSAA last date, the JoSAA will lock the last saved choice of the candidate, which will be used in further counselling sessions.
