MHT CET CAP Round 2026 Dates Out: Complete Schedule for Merit List & Seat Allotment

The Maharashtra State CET Cell has announced the MHT CET CAP round 2026 dates on the official website cetcell.mahacet.org. As per the MHT CET CAP Round Schedule, the MHT CET CAP registration process has started on July 2, 2026. Candidates who have passed the MHT CET exam 2026 will be eligible for the counselling process.

The MHT CET CAP process includes registration, document verification, allotment of seat, and reporting. Aspirants are advised to complete their registration and fill in their choices carefully before the last date. MHT CET CAP Round 2026 Highlights

MHT CET CAP stands for Centralised Admission Process. It is the official merit-based counselling process conducted by the Maharashtra State CET Cell. Through multiple rounds of choice filling and seat allotment across the state, eligible candidates get admission to undergraduate and postgraduate technical courses. 

MHT CET CAP Admission Portal 2026

The MHT CET CAP 2026 registration process is conducted online on the official admission portal of the Maharashtra State CET Cell. Candidates who are interested in getting admission in B.E./B. Tech and other professional courses should fill out the online application, upload the relevant documents, pay the necessary registration fee (if required), and complete document verification within the stated schedule.

The admission portal also allows access to vital counselling services: CAP registration, application status, document verification, merit lists, option form submission, seat allotment results, and institute reporting. MHT CET CAP Round Schedule 2026

The official MHT CET CAP round schedule has been released for all activities from registration to the final merit list. Round-wise option filling and seat allotment dates will be published separately after July 20. The MHT CET CAP Round wise dates will be announced later. 

MHT CET CAP Registration 2026: Step-by-Step Process

The MHT CET CAP 2026 registration process is currently open and will continue until July 12, 2026 (5:00 PM). Candidates are advised to complete their registration well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues. Take a look at the step by step MHT CET Registartion process below. . 

Step 1: Go to cetcell.mahacet.org or mahacet.org

Step 2: Click on “BE/B.Tech CAP Registration 2026-27”

Step 3: Log in with your MHT CET 2026 application number or JEE Main registration number

Step 4: Fill in your personal, academic, and category details

Step 5: Upload scanned documents as per the checklist

Step 6: Choose E-Scrutiny or Physical Scrutiny for document verification

Step 7: Pay the registration fee  ₹1,300 (General) or ₹1,000 (Reserved)

Step 8: Submit and save your Receipt-cum-Acknowledgement

MHT CET CAP 2026 Registration Fee

Candidates appearing for MHT CET CAP 2026 counselling process need to pay a non-refundable MHT CET CAP registration fee once while filling the online CAP application form. The registration fee is different for different categories of candidates.

 The application shall be deemed as complete following successful payment of the fee and shall be considered for merit list preparation. The candidates who have already paid the necessary CAP fee during the admission procedure and have been excused by the CET Cell need not pay again.

It should be noted that the MHT CET CAP registration fees are paid online only. No offline payments, no DDs, no cash. Fee is non-refundable once paid. Use a credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI through the official portal only.

Document Verification for MHT CET CAP 2026

After registration, documents must be verified by July 13, 2026. CET Cell offers two modes this year. Pick one during registration; you can’t switch later.

E-Scrutiny: Upload scanned documents online. No centre visit needed. If something’s wrong, you get a flag in your login to fix and resubmit.

Physical Scrutiny: Visit a Facilitation Centre with originals. Staff scans and upload on the spot. They give you a Receipt-cum-Acknowledgement before you leave.

Documents needed for verification:

• MHT CET 2026 Rank Card or JEE Main scorecard
• Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates
• Domicile or Nationality certificate
• Category certificate with a valid Caste Validity Certificate
• Non-Creamy Layer Certificate valid up to March 31, 2027 (for OBC/NT/SBC/VJ/DT)
• EWS Certificate as per Maharashtra GR dated May 31, 2021
• Photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, or School/College ID)
• Recent passport-size photographs

MHT CET CAP Merit List 2026

Two merit lists will be published before seat allotment begins. Both are important and for different reasons.

• Provisional MHT CET Merit List on Merit List  July 15, 2026

This is the first version. Check your rank, category, and personal details carefully. Any error here needs to be raised as a grievance between July 16 and July 18.

• Final MHT CET Merit List on July 20, 2026

This is the list used for all four CAP rounds. No corrections happen after this. Whatever rank you see here is your counselling rank period.

How to raise a grievance after the provisional merit list:

• Log in to your CAP portal at cetcell.mahacet.org
• Go to the grievance section and describe the issue
• Upload proof documents to support your claim
• Your application goes back for correction
• Fix it and resubmit
• Track the status in your login

Candidates who chose Physical Scrutiny need to resolve grievances in person at the Facilitation Centre.

MHT CET CAP Counselling Seat Allotment

The MHT CET CAP 2026 Seat allotment happens across four rounds. The first three are centrally run by the CET Cell. The fourth is at the institute level, for seats that go vacant after Round 3.

Your seat is decided by three things: your merit rank in the final list, the choices you fill during option form filling, and seat availability at the time of allotment. Filling more choices always gives you a better shot. There’s no limit on how many preferences you can add.

The round-wise MHT CET CAP seat allotment dates for all four rounds will be announced by the CET Cell after the final merit list is out on July 20. Based on last year’s timeline, allotment rounds are expected to run from late July through August 2026.

MHT CET CAP Round 1 Seat Allotment

CAP Round 1 is where most government college seats get filled. Demand is highest in this round of top colleges like VJTI Mumbai, COEP Pune, and Walchand Sangli, which typically close in Round 1 itself.

In Round 1, you fill your college-branch preferences in order. The system runs allotment based on your rank, category, domicile, and home university region. Once a seat is allotted, you can accept it and exit, or keep it active and wait for a better option in Round 2.

After the MHT CET CAP round 1 seat allotment:

• Accept and freeze, take the allotted seat, and exit counselling
• Accept and upgrade, keep the seat, and try for something better in Round 2
• Reject, give up the allotted seat entirely, and participate in Round 2 without a backup

It is advised that students go with “accept and upgrade” unless they’re fully sure about their allotted seat. Rejection leaves you with nothing if Round 2 doesn’t work out.

MHT CET CAP Round 2 Seat Allotment

MHT CET CAP Round 2 opens after candidates who got seats in Round 1 make their decisions. Seats that were rejected, forfeited, or freed up through upgrades come back into the pool.

Round 2 is where mid-range colleges fill up. Candidates who missed their preferred college in Round 1 often get another chance here. The process is the same option form filling followed by allotment based on merit rank and availability.

One thing many students forget: if you upgraded in Round 1, your Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled when Round 2 allotment happens. Make sure you’re okay with that before choosing the upgrade option.

MHT CET CAP Round 3 Seat Allotment

The MHT CET CAP Round 3 admission process will be similar to the process for Round 1 and 2. This includes the release of vacant seats, option form filling, seat assignment, seat acceptance and reporting to the institute. The CET Cell will publish the final merit list on July 20, 2026, after which the dates for the official MHT CET CAP Round 3 will be announced. Until then, candidates can refer to the tentative Round 3 schedule below.

Most of the seats in top government, government-aided and high-demand private engineering colleges normally get filled in MHT CET CAP Round 3. Most of the remaining seats are in private unaided institutions or in not-so-popular branches or in colleges in Amravati and Aurangabad regions.

MHT CET CAP Round 4 Allotment

MHT CET CAP Round 4 is different from the first three. It’s not centralised. Seats left vacant after Round 3 are handled directly by the institutes themselves. Candidates interested in Round 4 seats need to approach the institute directly within the window set by the CET Cell. There’s no online choice filling for Round 4  you contact the college, submit documents, and secure admission at the institutional level.

Round 4 is typically the last chance to get a seat through the MHT CET CAP process. After this, any remaining vacancies are filled under spot admission or institute-level rounds conducted independently.
