TNEA Tie-Breaking Process 2026
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 education in the MPC/PCM stream will apply for TNEA (Tamilnadu Engineering Admission). This process is for students who have secured the same marks in the 12th qualification exams. In that case, the TNEA Authorities have found a solution to avoid confusion at the time of admission. Candidates can check the below cases that TNEA authorities will follow to break the tie-breaking process:
Case 1: The candidate with a higher percentage in Mathematics will be given a higher rank.
Case 2: If the tie persists, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in Physics will be ranked higher.
Case 3: If the tie continues, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in the optional (fourth) subject will be given preference.
Case 4: If the tie persists, the date of birth of the candidates will be considered, with the older candidate being ranked higher.
Case 5: If the tie remains unresolved, the authorities will utilize the Tamil Nadu random number 2026. The candidate with the higher TNEA random numbers will be given preference.
