Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I receive both JU‑SES and other scholarships simultaneously?

Yes. The JU‑SES is awarded separately; you can still apply for other scholarships. If you don’t qualify in JU‑SES but meet its minimum percentile, you may be put on a waitlist and still be eligible for other fee waivers (e.g. Merit, Economical scholarships).

2. What is the JU Scholastic Excellence Scholarship Exam (JU‑SES)?

The JU‑SES is a special merit-based exam introduced in 2025, offering UG aspirants the chance to earn a 50 % tuition waiver for their entire course duration (3 or 4 years). It is independent of other scholarships, and students can participate in both exam dates (30 April & 20 May 2025) to improve ranking. Even those who just meet the minimum percentile may be placed on a waiting list and still be considered for other fee waivers.

3.  Are these scholarships at Joy University only for first-year students? Can they continue in later years?

Most scholarships (including Chancellor, Merit, Sports, Economical, and Differently‑abled) are renewable annually, provided you meet the criteria each year, such as CGPA thresholds, no backlogs, and timely reapplication before the deadline.

4. What is the JU North East Scholarship, and who qualifies?

Joy University offers the JU North East Scholarship exclusively to students who completed their Class 12 from boards in North Eastern states (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura). Successful applicants can receive up to a 100% tuition fee waiver, renewable annually, provided they maintain minimum CGPA (often 6.0), have no backlogs, and apply by the deadline each year.

5. How does the Differently‑Abled Scholarship work?

The JU Differently Abled Scholarship supports students with locomotor, orthopedic, speech, or hearing disabilities. Up to 75% tuition fee waiver is awarded based on certification from a competent authority. To renew, students must apply each year before deadlines, maintain required CGPA (typically ≥ 7.0), and have no academic backlogs or gaps
